IFCO has announced the opening of its new service center in Dallas, Texas. The facility is part of the company's North American expansion for reusable packaging in fresh food supply chains.
Dallas was chosen for its central location and access to major transportation routes, allowing IFCO to connect grower partners and retailer customers across the U.S. The Dallas Service Center adds to the company's network, with a focus on operational scale and service.
The facility covers 240,000 square feet and is equipped with 15 loading docks supporting automated wash lines. At full capacity, the site will employ more than 100 people across three shifts.
Chris Young, IFCO's Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, said: "We're proud to be a key part of the fresh grocery supply chain, and we take our role seriously. Our new Dallas area facility will service millions of reusable IFCO crates each year, and those crates will deliver millions of shipments of fresh grocery products to families across the region. We're proud to serve the growing needs of our customers and ultimately the end consumer."
According to IFCO, the Dallas facility is expected to service more than 40 million reusable crates annually. The company estimates its U.S. SmartCycle program supports over 450 million family interactions each year and more than 1 billion consumer touchpoints.
The service center is designed to improve crate processing capacity, offering the ability to stage and wash large volumes of reusable packaging for retail and grower customers. It also incorporates automation systems aimed at improving food safety and efficiency.
The Dallas center will be integrated into IFCO's broader North American portfolio, optimizing routes and supply lanes for retailers and growers. The company stated the expansion is intended to increase the reuse of returnable plastic crates (RPCs) in fresh produce and other grocery supply chains.
