Privacy Fence in Dallas, TX

According to a 2021 study by the International Casual Furnishings Association, nearly 90% of Americans say that having an outdoor space to enjoy as part of their home is more important than ever. In fact, demand for outdoor living spaces has been on the rise for years, due largely to pandemic conditions and the stay-at-home movement. Often, these outdoor living spaces include privacy fences, which provide both home and business owners with protection, privacy, safety, and even noise cancelation.

Several confirmed tornadoes on Saturday night touched down accross parts of North Texas.

DALLAS — Several tornadoes touched down in North Texas late Saturday and early Sunday morning, officials confirmed.

The storms damaged buildings and downed trees in several locations across North Texas, but by 8 a.m. Sunday morning, storms mostly moved out of the area toward far East Texas.

There were nine reports of tornadoes Saturday night and several were confirmed. There were no immediate reports of injuries or deaths caused by the storms.

A tornado warning remains in effect for much of North Texas through 7 a.m.

The National Weather Service Fort Worth confirmed a tornado touched down around 11 p.m. Saturday in Parker County near the Interstate 20 corridor. Officials reported flooding and damaged buildings in the aftermath of the storm Sunday.

The Granbury Volunteer Fire Department and Hood County confirmed several homes were damaged by a tornado near Weatherford Saturday night. Most of the damage was found near Tolar, southwest of Granbury, officials said.

At least one home was destroyed in the storm and several others sustained major damage, Hod County said in a statement.

WFAA viewer Chris Jackson captured a video of a tornado forming around 8 a.m. Saturday, north of Hico, Texas in Hamilton County.

Communities to the west of the Dallas-Fort Worth area worked to clean up Sunday after several tornadoes touched down late Saturday night. Thousands across the region were without power.

Parker County Emergency Services District 1 said in a Facebook post that it, along with the Parker County Fire Department, responded to “at least two tornadoes that crossed west Parker [County] Saturday night.”

The damage stretched from Johnson Bend Road, to the south of Peaster, up to around Hodges Road, south of Poolville. This is approximately a 12-mile stretch.

The Authon community also saw damage along Walker Bend Road and Sandy Lane, according to the emergency services post.

The National Weather Service had also issued a tornado watch that covered the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but it was canceled early Sunday.

The watch — which covered Dallas, Tarrant, Denton and Collin counties — was initially set to last until 7 a.m. Sunday. Dallas County Judge Clay Lewis Jenkins urged residents in a X post late Saturday night to “stay weather aware and have a way to get notified in the middle of night if needed.”

Earlier Saturday, the weather service said law enforcement confirmed a tornado near Weatherford, an area in Parker County located around 30 miles west of Fort Worth, shortly after 10 p.m.

The weather service said the tornado was moving north at 25 miles per hour, urging residents in the nearby areas to take cover in a substantial shelter immediately. It said hazards include quarter-sized hail and flying debris. Mobile homes, roofs, windows, vehicles and trees are also likely to be damaged or destroyed.

Around an hour later, the weather service told residents near Cool and Garner, both also in Parker County, to take shelter due to multiple reports of a tornado moving across the northern part of the county.

A tornado also landed in Hood County Saturday night, according to the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department. It said in a Facebook post just before 9:30 p.m. that one home southwest of Tolar was hit and several trees were blocking the roadway.

Meanwhile, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was also located just over 15 miles north of Stephenville in Erath County, according to the agency.

The National Weather Service previously issued a severe thunderstorm watch for a broad swath of the state along and west of Highway 281, including parts of western and central North Texas, until 10 p.m. Saturday.

The agency also issued a flood watch for Grayson, Cooke, Montague, Wise, Jack, and Young counties through 1 p.m. Sunday.

Most parts of the D-FW area could see between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rainfall, the agency said. Though it also warned that some isolated areas in northwest Texas could get up to five inches.

Power outages

Several thousand people woke up without power Sunday morning, the second morning in a row that numerous North Texans were affected.

Shortly after 9 a.m., over 2,000 people were without power in Jack County, to the west of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and over 1,000 were without power in Tarrant County.

Parker County, where tornado damage was reported overnight, only had 122 customers without power as of 9 a.m.

This pattern repeated from Saturday, when stormy weather overnight resulted in more than 11,000 customers without power as of 8 a.m. Saturday.

By 8:43 p.m. Saturday, the number of affected customers dropped to under 1,400.
