Two boaters went missing on Lake Lewisville earlier this week. Now, responders have recovered their bodies.

After the victims’ boat was found beached on June 17, Texas Game Wardens responded to search for them, according to a statement shared with The Dallas Express by Maggie Berger, public information officer for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Officials searched for the next two days, and on June 19, they found their bodies.

Game wardens in Denton County responded to Lake Lewisville on the evening of June 17 and launched a search.

Officials do not have an exact location for the drownings, but believe they happened “on Lake Lewisville near the old dam,” Berger told The Dallas Express. Similarly, officials do not have an exact time, but believe the victims drowned that afternoon.

The search continued the next day, when the Army Corps of Engineers joined the effort, according to the statement. The game wardens’ Underwater Search and Recovery Team and others recovered the male victim the morning of June 19, and they recovered the female victim that afternoon. Both victims were released to the Denton County Medical Examiner.

“We are not releasing victim identities at this time out of respect to their families’ wishes,” the statement reads.

According to Berger, the Denton County Sheriff’s Office and the Lewisville Fire Department responded to the incident along with the Texas Game Wardens and the Army Corps of Engineers.

“We lead recovery efforts and will file the boating accident report,” she said. “There will be no other investigation on top of that.”

Berger said officials are “unable to speculate” on what caused the deaths.

“Our thoughts are with the victims’ families during this difficult time,” she said.

The city of Lewisville, Texas, confirmed Tuesday that a Tesla charging unit sparked a massive garage fire that caused extensive damage to a home.

The two-alarm fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, a city spokesman told Fox News Digital.

"The fire on Monday, July 21, in Lewisville, Texas, was started by the car charger device in the garage," spokesman Matt Martucci said, adding that the "intense" flames primarily damaged a second vehicle – a Lexus parked inside the garage — and the upper floors of the home.

Footage from the scene shows the Lexus pulled out onto the driveway completely burned and a charred home with visible holes in the roof.

The homeowner said she had just returned home when she plugged in her Tesla and saw her charging unit catching on fire, according to Martucci.

She quickly moved the Tesla out of the garage and parked it down the street, where it remained undamaged, Martucci added.

However, the flames from the charging unit continued to spread rapidly — engulfing the nearby Lexus, climbing upward into a game room located above the garage and finally extending into the attic and upper portions of the home.

No one was injured, and firefighters had the blaze under control by 1:15 p.m., Martucci said.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the charging unit to ignite.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

A home in Lewisville caught fire Monday afternoon, started by a Tesla, the Lewisville Fire Department said.

The two-alarm fire started around 12:30 p.m. at a house in the 300 block of Meadowview Way, according to Lewisville FD.

CBS News Texas Chopper was over the scene, which showed the electric vehicle completely burned and holes in the roof of the home and above the garage.

The homeowner reported coming home and plugging in her Tesla, the city of Lewisville said. She reportedly then noticed some "electrical arcing coming from the charger unit."

According to the report, the woman stated that the charging unit caught fire, prompting her to move the Tesla out of the garage and park it down the street.

The fire from the charging unit quickly spread to the game room above the garage, as well as the attic of the second floor, causing heavy damage to the house, the city's report states. Another car in the garage, a Lexus, was also destroyed by the flames.

The fire was extinguished around 1:15 p.m.

Lewisville FD said there were no injuries; however, one Lewisville firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion and released.

Flower Mound, Lake Cities, Carrollton, and The Colony assisted Lewisville FD.

A 28-year-old man's body was recovered from Lake Lewisville on Sunday morning after he went missing in the water Saturday evening. His family spoke with NBC 5.

According to the City of Lewisville, someone called 911 about a man missing in the water at about 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 28. The Lewisville Fire Department's dive team was on the scene near the Pier 121 Marina.

The Texas Game Wardens in Denton County said Cleveland Whiteside was reportedly "swimming back to a vessel" with a woman when Whiteside went underwater and didn't resurface.

The Lewisville Fire Department, along with Game Warden boats, spent Saturday night and Sunday morning searching for the 28-year-old and recovered his body at about noon.

According to the Texas Game Wardens, they located Whiteside's body with the help of Towboat U.S. and divers with the Lewisville Fire Department.

"Cleveland being gone, that whole sentence is unreal to me," said Sherra Noel, his mother.

Noel, who lives in Mississippi, said that around 5 a.m. on Sunday, two military personnel knocked on their door.

"They were just as overwhelmed as I was and I appreciated their compassion to let my husband and I know what happened," said Noel. "It was the contact that I just did not ever want to receive, didn't ever think that I would receive."

"I don't think I've grasped fully what has gone on because Cleveland is so strong-willed and just strategic in everything that he would do, that I want him to be holding on somewhere fighting," said Noel.

She said her son joined the Marine Corps in 2016.

"When he called me his first year of college and said he wanted to be a Marine, I was ecstatic because I said, 'OK, this is where you're gonna get your discipline,'" explained Noel, who described her son as a rambunctious kid.

After training in North Carolina, she said he was transferred to California and in the last two years worked in North Texas as a Marine Corps recruiter.

"He didn't want the next generation to have to go through what he went through, so he told me he wanted to go to Dallas and talk to as many children as he can to persuade them to join the Marines to change their lives forever," said Noel.

The family said he was promoted to Staff Sgt. Whitefield within the last year.

"He was just promoted, so proud of that moment, he worked so hard. He earned that promotion," said Noel.

His brother, Pierre Whiteside, described his brother to NBC 5 over the phone as a 'standup guy' who made a 180 in life after joining the Marines.

According to the older brother, the two shared a house in Van Alstyne. He saw Whiteside Saturday morning and said this doesn't feel real because he's expecting to see his brother walk through the door.

He said his brother owned a Bass Tracker boat that he took out to the lake on Saturday with a couple of other Marines.

"He was out with two female Marine buddies and just jumped in to swim, and the portion where they were was 35 feet deep; he went down and did not resurface," said Noel.

What exactly happened remains under investigation. Noel said she is having difficulty processing what happened because she said her son was an avid swimmer.

"It was mandatory for him to be able to swim; he was great at swimming. He'd have to save different military team members doing drills over the years, so he knew what to do. He had the survivor skills. So I'm not sure. That's what I would like to speak with the two young ladies about," expressed Noel, who said she knows the situation must be tough on them, too.

She said she's just grateful for the 28 years that he was with their family and said faith, family, and friends are helping her get through this as she prepares for an array of emotions during the grieving process.

"He loved everything about being a Marine; there was never a moment where you could call him a soldier, you had to say Marine. He was so proud of it," said Noel.

NBC 5 reached out to the Marine Corps for a statement and confirmation regarding Whiteside's death. According to a spokesperson, per their protocol, they are not allowed to release the name or information about the Marine until 24 hours after their family has been notified, which would be by Monday morning.

"Our thoughts are with Mr. Whiteside’s family and friends during this difficult time," said the Texas Game Wardens in a statement.
